Doctor Ryan is the owner of Kailua Wellness Center. He earned his Bachelors degree in Exercise and Sport Science at Brigham Young University Hawaii. He then graduated Dean's list from Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCUHS) Doctor of Chiropractic program. After completing his internship at California State University Health Center- Fullerton, he joined L.A. Sports and Spine center as a preceptor intern under the supervision of Dr. Craig Liebenson (author of "Rehabilitation of the Spine" A textbook used in Chiropractic & Physical Therapy Schools)
Dr. Ryan is trained in Sports Chiropractic, sports medicine and functional rehabilitation.
Dr. Ryan has worked with elite athletes in the NBA, NFL, NHL, and the UFC. He has also worked with Olympians, Triathletes, Marathon runners, and Collegiate athletes. Dr. Ryan is Board Certified and licensed to practice Chiropractic in the State of Hawaii. Dr. Ryan is also a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine and a Licensed Massage Therapist.

Dr. Chris Sauer, D.C., has been providing chiropractic to the windward side since 2000. He has his own practice in Kaneohe and joined Kailua Wellness Center in 2014. Dr. Sauer was born in Ohio but has made Hawaii his home. Dr. Sauer lives on the windward side with his wife Janelle and their son Jason. He enjoys spending time with his family, attending Calvary Chapel Kaneohe, weight training at 24 Hour Fitness, playing video games with his son and taking long walks on the beach. Dr. Sauer and his wife have been home schooling their son Jason since 2012, which has drawn them closer together as a family. Dr. Sauer really enjoys working with and helping people get better and stay well through chiropractic care. Kailua Wellness Center is excited to have Dr. Sauer as part of our team.

Kody Eckert, PT, DPT (Physical Therapist)
Dr. Kody, a Reno, Nevada native, began his journey in Southern California where he played junior college basketball. His firsthand experience as a physical therapy patient during his athletic career inspired him to pursue the field professionally. Kody went on to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Chapman University in 2023, where he received extensive training in orthopedic rehabilitation, sports injury management, exercise therapy and manual therapy. He is committed to helping individuals of all activity levels recover from injury, improve mobility, and achieve long-term wellness.

Caroline "Carlie" Bunten, DPT (Physical Therapist)
Carlie is a licensed physical therapist with extensive experience in orthopedic care and a commitment to helping individuals restore movement and improve quality of life. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth in 2021 and holds a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University.
Carlie takes a personalized, movement-focused approach to patient care, combining clinical expertise with a supportive and encouraging style. She is passionate about empowering her patients to feel strong, confident, and capable in their bodies. Her treatment philosophy centers on reducing pain, enhancing mobility, and helping patients return to the activities they enjoy most.
She has completed advanced training in Pilates-based rehabilitation, athletic performance, and pregnancy and postpartum care—enabling her to provide comprehensive, tailored care across all stages of life and activity levels.
Originally from Texas, Carlie now resides in Hawaii, where she enjoys staying active, exploring the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with her husband and their golden retriever, Scout.
Steve Thomas, DPT (Physical Therapist)
Steve Thomas has been practicing physical therapy since 2004, after graduating from the University of North Dakota. He went on to further his education and earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the same university in 2007. Steve specializes in general orthopedics, and his background as both a high school and collegiate athlete fuels his passion for working with sports medicine patients.
Steve was working at the multi-disciplinary pain management clinic Manakai O Malama prior to joining us at Kailua Wellness Center.

Jun Cadelinia, DPT (Physical Therapist)
Aloha, my name is Jun Bradley Cadelinia. I was born and raised on Oahu, and graduated from Moanalua High School. I received my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of St. Augustine with experience in treating neck and low back pain, general orthopedics, sports orthopedics, and geriatrics.
I have a passion for helping people and chose Physical Therapy to do so. When I’m not at work, I love to train in the gym (Powerlifting, bodybuild, and/or weightlifting), cook, play video games, and detail my car. I am a fan of the Miami Heat, and leisurely watch football and MMA.
I also have a dog named Samson that I rescued with my girlfriend. We got him on Valentine’s Day for $14.00 at the Humane Society. Ask me about my dog and how I can help you reach your physical therapy goals.

Meet Tara Mattes! We feel incredibly fortunate to have Tara join our Kailua Wellness Center family, bringing both a welcoming presence and a wealth of experience. Tara has nearly twenty years of Acupuncture experience. Tara Mattes joins Kailua Wellness Center after many years of working at Pain management clinic Manakai O Malama. She graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a B.A. in World Religions and Biology, blending a love of science with a deep appreciation for holistic healing. Her journey took her across the world, where she discovered the transformative power of acupuncture and ultimately chose to study under Taoist Master Dr. Chang Yi Hsiang, Ph.D., at the Tai Hsuan College of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine here in Hawaii. Tara’s expertise spans women’s health, addiction and recovery, and pain management, all delivered with a compassionate, patient-centered approach. We are truly lucky to have her skill, warmth, and dedication as part of our team.

She trained in healthcare in Japan in the early 1990s, where she discovered the powerful benefits of specialized medical massage for rehabilitation and gained experience with skeletal framework, muscle development, and the lymphatic system. Since moving to Hawaii in 2003, Roxana has continued to refine her craft and has been providing expert care at Manakai o Malama, Hawaii’s largest integrative medical clinic, since 2018. She brings a wealth of experience in techniques such as trigger point therapy, Shiatsu, sports massage, Swedish, and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, helping her clients recover, relax, and feel their best.
